Nick Pistoia
“Nick Pistoia’s Angel Fire has one trying to figure out the right term for ‘HiFi LoFi.’ Nick clearly has an affinity for the early 90’s blown-out indie sound. There are the pop hooks of Guided by Voices, the jangly guitar work of Built to Spill, the mournful sarcasm of Sebadoh, and there’s something unplaceable that reminds one of Pavement’s Scott Kannberg tracks, but Angel Fire has the distinct polish of FM-friendly albums of the late 90’s/early 00’s. It’s a winning combo.”
